Sally Spear creates both functional and sculptural art made primarily from mid-fire porcelain and stoneware clay bodies. Her deep connection to the elements - earth, air, water, fire - is something that keeps creative exploration alive. Forever drawn to sand and sea, hints of the ocean can be found in her art through textures, forms and colors. Sally creates timeless, yet modern art. Organic, yet refined. She explores a myriad of textures that enhance or suggest movement and flow. Another element found in her art is her use of negative space and how it interplays with both light and shadow. These elements of curiosity, flow, and levity all weave together to create her unique body of work.

Sally has been an artist and teaching creative arts for over 20 years, and is passionate about sharing creativity with others. She received her BA in Integrative Arts - Ceramics Focus from the Pennsylvania State University. Since then, she has been making and teaching art and ceramics in art programs, schools, community centers, and in her studio. She is currently a full-time studio artist and teacher in Boulder, Colorado.
